Ellen Hutchins commission

After the completion of a recent commission, we were delighted to hear how pleased the clients were with the their creation. We designed and built a cabinet to house some of the letters, books and drawings by Ellen Hutchins (1785 – 1815), Ireland’s first female botanist, who was also a botanical artist.

“We have just taken delivery of a wonderful archive storage and display cabinet… designed and made by Matthew Burt, a skilled and experienced furniture maker.

“The cabinet is made of pippy oak with bog oak featured on the handles. It is very cleverly designed and provides flexibility for a range of archive materials to be stored, displayed and used in living history sessions.

“The project has been funded by the Heritage Council and the Hutchins family.”
