I call this piece 'Before-you-Go'. It was originally conceived as a hallway piece so beside its mirror there's a place for keys, wallet, lippy, hairbrush etc. I was the only one who made this in the workshop & look out, it seems one of the bosses is talking about spending some time on the tools.. ..If I can find time to escape some of the peculiar demands of modern business practise, there may be a few more of these in the world. I thoroughly enjoyed them & their making. The marvellous @forge_on_the_green a community cafe & non-profit making social enterprise driven by the vision of a delightful couple whose conviction, determination & finance breathed life and soul into a talented team of builders, architect, interior designer, manager & ourselves. I was asked to join this talented group & design furniture for this jewel. The brief was in part tight & in other ways wonderfully free. The furniture was made in our @matthewburtstudio by our team of talented makers, all of whom have undertaken or are going through a six year apprenticeship here in our Wiltshire based workshop. An inspirational project based around a vision of excellence for all. With such values & commitment I feel all's Well & the future exciting.
