WATERFALL PANELLING

WATERFALL PANELLING

ABOUT

How could I make use of the smaller sections gleaned from coppicing? My solution I’ve christened ‘Waterfall’.

We took thin sections of Hampshire and Sussex sweet chestnut and created undulating cuts straight from the bandsaw, which are then randomly juxtapositioned with other undulating lengths of various thicknesses. It is difficult to be intentionally random, but we try.

If we string sufficient of these alongside each other, we create what could be described as ‘waterfall’ panelling. You can see we went to town with this idea when requested to make a rather large and perhaps overbearing white entrance atrium a little softer, warmer and inviting. The waterfall opens at various places to reveal a beyond.

We are incorporating this concept into other designs, the botanist within me seems to be making a return.
