These chairs all share a technique we gleaned from barrel-makers known as coopering. The backs are made from identical curved and tapered staves whose sides are subtly angled. When fitted together they provide the compound curve so important to their comfort.

This price includes all the upholstery work, excluding fabric.

The Coopered Carver is our classic carver chair – everyone who sits in this chair exclaims its comfort. It is a result of much anatomy study. It exploits the same coopering techniques we purloined from those barrel-makers. This time it is both the seat and the back that have their identical, curved and tapered staves that when fitted together provide the body friendly, hand-finished and fettled, compound curves so vital in the creation of comfort.
