An altar for St John the Baptist.

This was a project close to Matthew’s heart as this church is in Tisbury, Wiltshire. Matthew’s ancestors came from this village and some of them would doubtless have worshipped here.

“Wandering around the graveyard of this ancient church, you will find the occasional Burt tucked under the soil. That’s not surprising because we’ve been around here for a few centuries.

“To be able to add my own mark to the history and narrative of this church is a very special pleasure to me. The light within is an overt metaphor; its construction from local oak, a given.”
