When a Michelin-starred chef asks you to design their family kitchen, you take a deep breath. Needless to say, it was not as I initially expected, and the ‘brief’ on the whole was wonderfully relaxed, with a few emphatic imperatives. Work-a-day chic was the answer and unlocked the key of his approval – a goodly balance of colour, warmth of wood, light and plenty of accessible storage for the tools of the trade. It is a very pleasant place in which to imbibe the culinary delights that ensue.
