A propeller-edged ‘fin’ table with Tall Coopered dining chairs, now commonly known as the Fin Table. It measures 2500mm long, 1180mm wide and 740mm high and was made from the client’s own spalted Wiltshire sycamore after they called to say an old tree had blown down in their garden.

“Is there anything we can do with it?”

Eighteen months later some of it had been converted into this table and chairs.
Spalted (sycamore) refers to the colour running through this (normally consistently pale) timber.  It is caused by fungi reacting with the wood whilst it’s still growing and is often found in ancient trees. It does not affect the strength or durability of the timber.
